The original "Funguy" Sculpture from 1998

 

 

In 1998 I had the opportunity to use one of the Arcata Kinetic Sculpture Lab’s Tricycles, built by Ken Beidleman as a reward for assisting him in building a 2 man machine. I raced that year as the “Funguy” and for some strange reason the name stuck and I’ve had that nickname ever since. My Pit Crew that year was Bruce Martin (RIP dear friend), and we won the front page of the local newspaper that Sunday morning and the local NBC affiliate did a race interview with the founder, Hobart Brown, while he sat in my machine.
